I spent my early years growing up in the South West of the United Kingdom, in the counties of Devon and Cornwall, and attended Devonport High School for Boys in Plymouth. Among my main achievements were passing the Oxbridge entrance exam, much to the surprise of many of my peers ,tutors and including me at the time. I also earned my full school colours for representing the school in rugby and played for the Devon County Under-19s team at the age of 17.
I joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) and spent the majority of my service with 42 Torpedo Bomber Squadron at RAF St Mawgan and later at RAF Strike Command. During this period, I continued to play representative rugby for the RAF and Marlow RUFC while stationed at RAF Strike Command in Buckinghamshire. Following this, I served in the Royal Air Force of Oman, based in the Middle East, in the early 1990s. Both my military service and rugby career had a profound influence on my approach to life, particularly in terms of discipline and the importance of teamwork.
On returning to the UK, I began my journey in financial services somewhat by accident with Prudential ACL. This journey has since spanned more than three decades, featuring a diverse range of roles, including senior positions at Coutts & Co in London. These roles included Country Head and Senior Executive function based in Qatar in the Middle East, followed by Executive Director roles with major international banks and leading asset managers across Asia, the UAE, Singapore, and Hong Kong. At Melbourne Capital Group, my focus is on leveraging analytical skills, embracing technology, and providing detailed financial and cash management planning to manage private and corporate wealth with a precise, strategic, and common-sense approach.
My transition to my current role in Asia aims to deepen relationships within the private, corporate, and family office sectors. Our team excels at delivering regulated financial solutions, embracing the challenges of evolving markets, and cultivating new connections to drive growth and secure prosperity in today’s financial landscape.
Outside of work, my main interests include rugby (though now, Alas, only as a spectator), ‘old man’ yoga, and foodie travel whenever possible. My challenge for 2025 is a sponsored charity trek to Everest Base Camp, which I somewhat foolishly agreed to under duress! Survival will be my top priority !!I am now fully resident in South East Asia and intend to commit this as my permanent home.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the coming weeks and months ahead.
