On Thursday, 20th June 2024, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia, H.E. Ailsa Terry CMG, hosted a fantastic reception at the Majestic Ballroom, Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, to celebrate the 76th birthday of His Majesty King Charles III. The night brought together a wonderful mix of guests for a fun-filled evening of celebration, networking, and enjoying British and Malaysian culture.

The Majestic Hotel Ballroom was an ideal setting, beautifully decorated with British-themed touches that created a festive yet classy vibe. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making everyone feel right at home as if we were in London. The event was very well-attended, with a lively crowd from various sectors across Malaysia, including diplomats, business leaders, cultural icons, members of the British Council, and expatriate community. It was a great opportunity for everyone to mingle, exchange ideas, and build stronger connections.

Guests were treated to a mouthwatering selection of British cuisine, with favourites such as, Harry Ramsden’s, fish and chips, steak and ale pies, an array of British cheeses and then of course desserts. The delicious food was paired with fine wines and beverages, adding to the enjoyment of the evening. The entertainment was top-notch, with live music showcasing the best of British culture. A string quartet played traditional British tunes, followed by a contemporary band that got everyone tapping their feet with popular British hits. There was also a display of British art and literature, adding an extra layer of cultural richness to the night.

H.E. Ailsa Terry CMG gave a heartfelt speech, expressing her gratitude to everyone for their presence and continued support. She spoke about the strong friendship between the U.K. and Malaysia while reaffirming the commitment to furthering this relationship. A toast was made in honour of His Majesty King Charles III, celebrating his contributions and legacy. The feedback from guests was overwhelmingly positive, with many appreciating the thoughtful planning and attention to detail that made the evening so memorable.
